Preface:
This book has been long in the making. Though it is by no means a finished product, it serves to illustrate the time and effort the teachers and children of Eau Claire County have devoted to gathering information about the past history of local areas.
The stories in this book are subject to revision. In the most part, no editing of the stories was made because this is primarily a first draft of what we hope will eventually be a complete history of Eau Claire County.
The material for this book was to have been compiled by school districts. We regret that some of the school districts are not represented in this book
As compilers of this history, we hope that discrepancies will be corrected by those who read the book. We urge those who have information to add, to feel free and welcom to do so.
We wish to thank all the teachers and children who have devoted their time and effort to the gathering of information for this book. We hope that it will serve its purpose by making thema nd those to follow, better acquainted with the historical cevelopment of our great county, its hamlets, its villages and its cities.
