"Eau Claire County History, 1949" The History of Geisler School District Just fifty-six years ago, in 1892, the neighboring residents of Section 31, came to the conclusion that their seven year old youngsters would not be able to walk the five miles morning and night to the Fall Creek Valley School as the older brothers and sisters had been doing, so the townships of Lincoln and Clear Creek joined as district number seven and decided to solve the problem by building a schoolhouse within their vicinity. A tree covered knoll on County Trunk K consisting of one acre belonging to the August Geisler farm was selected. Mr. Geisler leased this land for school purposes for a period of one hundred years. At the termination of said time it will automatically become the property of the farm. Enough trees were cut down to furnish a suitable place upon which to build the "Geisler School." After the school had been in progress for a few years it was deemed necessary to remove more trees to procure effectual lighting. Now the trees remaining on the north and west side provide an ideal windbreak. Two members of the first school board were Charlie Krause and William Welke, the former serving as treasurer for twenty-eight years. Miss Nellie Culbert had the honor of being the district's first teacher, the second being Miss Ida Kohnke. The school filled a large place in the life of this rural community. Its basket socials, Christmas programs, and picnics at the close of each school term drew parents from miles around. The
following are lists
of the "Old Timers" who formerly occupied the farms and the present
(1949)
occupants who now rent or own the same farms.
