Head of Household Federal Census Index >
The
enclosed census index contains
only the names of the heads of each household in Eau Claire Co.,
Wisconsin, along with any other name
that
is different from the head of household. If a household
contained two families, then only the oldest of each of the surnames
residing
in that household will be listed, whether the oldest person is a child
or an
adult. Names are listed as they appear to be on the original
census
records. As a result, there may be mis-spellings of
names.
You are
encouraged to use a variety of spelling combinations when looking
through these
records for specific heads of households. Please keep in mind
that this website is
not out to 'change history' and will not make corrections of names, as
this is
how the names appear on the actual census. Some names are
completely or
partially unreadable. These names are represented fully or
partially with blanks ( _ ). Other incomplete information
will
have notations in regards to whether the original material was
unreadable or not provided.
All individuals listed here were found on Microfilm Roll # M593 - Roll 1712. Page numbers have been included here for your use in finding the records more easily when viewing the original microfilm rolls. Also, please note: The four towns of North Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Oak Grove & West Eau Claire constituted the city of Eau Claire at that time. These towns embraced a small amount of farming population. The point where the village ended and the country began was indicated on the original census by the enumerator. |
