St.
John's Hay Creek
Cemetery
Donated
by Willow Steinke
St
Johns Hay Creek Cemetery was
formed the same year as St.
John's Lutheran Church, in 1883. It is located on Hay Creek
Road in
rural Fairchild, WI. Take highway M out of Augusta to Lang
Road.
Stay on Lang Road until you get to Hay Creek Road. This road will take
you right past the cemetery. It is approximately five miles out of
Augusta, WI. and just south of St. Johns Church.
This cemetery was only used by the congregation of St. Johns Church until the year of 1962. On January 7th, 1962 the cemetery association was formed, thereby allowing others to be buried there. St. Johns Hay Creek Cemetery is located in a quaint country setting with a huge old oak tree and many flowering bushes and is fenced all around. It has only 456 lots. The lots are quite reasonable and the maintenance is done by Norman Steinke. He has been the grounds keeper since 1988. His sister Deloris Steinke is the sexton of the cemetery. She keeps all the records and is the person to contact when purchasing a lot (see contact info below). St. Johns Cemetery has several veterans intered there from WWI, WWII and the Korean War:
John
ZANK - WWI
William ARNDT - WWI
William BARRINGER - WWII
